Summit for Democracy 2024: Facilitator for ‘Autonomous Vehicles & Global Equity’ Session

Representing the NGO Youth for Privacy, I had the honor of facilitating a session at the Summit for Democracy 2024 on the complex societal impacts of autonomous vehicles. My role was to guide the discussion beyond purely engineering challenges and frame technological advancement in transportation as a critical global social issue.

A key focus of the session was the concern over job displacement and deepening inequality, particularly in developing nations where transportation infrastructure and social safety nets are vastly different. Leading this conversation profoundly deepened my understanding of the need for equitable and culturally sensitive solutions. It’s not enough to innovate; we must ensure that new technologies serve to uplift all communities, not just a select few.
